Monday, July 20th, 2009Yet Another Touristy Eiffel Tower Shot
Taken from Palais de Chaillot with the statues from the Cite de l’architecture enjoying the view (so much so in some cases that they just have to strip off)

François Jouffroy’s Premier secret confiĂ© Ă VĂ©nus (First secret confidence to Venus)
Sunday, July 19th, 2009
View of the tower to the rear of Basilique du Sacré-Cœur in Montmartre.
The rear of complex was surprisingly empty given the number of tourists crawling all over the front of the building.
Sunset
Saturday, July 18th, 2009Next in the haphazard update from my trip to Paris.
One of the many beautiful statues in the Jardin des Tuileries and a bit of the Palais du Louvre during the pre-sunset time of the day when there is still lots of light but with sunset colours.
Notre Dame de Paris
Monday, July 13th, 2009Front view of the stunning Notre Dame de Paris cathedral taken in setting sun-light. Unfortunately arrived too late to get up the towers (on two different days) — just another reason to go back.
Hopefully the photoshopping isn’t too extreme (it’s quite heavy)
Jardin des Tuileries
Saturday, July 11th, 2009Grand Palais Doors
Saturday, July 11th, 2009the surprisingly colourful main doors of the Grand Palais, Paris.
You can see the archway of the Petit Palais (across the road) in the reflection. Unfortunately didn’t have time to visit the exhibitions inside.
Eiffel Tower
Friday, July 10th, 2009Obligatory tourist-visiting-Paris Eiffel Tower shot.
Taken from below (as you might guess) looking up at the tower.
Didn’t realise just how brown the tower is! Very impressive structure, quite glad it hasn’t been torn down yet. Would’ve liked to have gone up, but for all the tourists getting in the way.
Neptune Calming the Waves
Wednesday, July 8th, 2009Extract of an amazing admission piece by Lambert-Sigisbert Adam for admission to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture.

Captif, dit l’Espagne
Wednesday, July 8th, 2009Part of a wonderful scupture by Martin Desjardins of the Captifs: a set of four larger than life statues depicting four reactions to captivity. The spanish captive (young and fresh-faced) represents hope.
The monument was commissioned in 1679 by François d’Aubusson, duke of La Feuillade and marshal of France, who had distinguished himself in the campaigns in Franche-ComtĂ© and Sicily.
Further details about the statue are on the Louvre’s website.
